I had a wonderful stay at a charming lodge near the heart of Auckland. The rooms were clean and comfortable, with cozy single beds. The kitchen facilities were well-equipped and the bathrooms were functional. The staff went out of their way to make me feel welcome and even allowed me to store my luggage after checkout. The location was convenient, within walking distance of everything I needed. I highly recommend this lodge for a pleasant and affordable stay.

Great location near popular attractions and amenities. Comfortable beds and clean sheets. Well-organized and clean kitchen facilities. Helpful and responsive staff.
Lack of consideration for short-term guests sharing rooms with long-termers. Stuffy basement room lacking proper ventilation.

I had a great stay at a nice hostel with a fantastic location. The hostel is situated right off Ponsonby St, making it easy to explore the city. It's a short walk to the CBD, Mt. Eden, and the SkyBus stop. The kitchen is located in the basement, which keeps the noise contained downstairs. The room was comfortable and the heating worked well. The staff was helpful and accommodating, allowing me to leave my luggage and hang out in the lounge even after check-out. The Wi-Fi worked well too. I would definitely stay here again.
While there were a few minor drawbacks, such as the shared toilets and showers and the lack of separate sockets for the heater, they didn't significantly impact my overall experience.

Great room, clean amenities, clean kitchen.
Didn't like the noise of drunken fights in the park - however, this does not reflect on the staff.

Convenient location between city and Ponsonby Road means it was possible to walk to both, without being in the busgle of either. The park at the rear is a real plus in the middle of the city. And the carpeted room with high stud seems - by backpacker standards - quite luxurious. Friendly proprietor.
Since I'm not really a backpacker, I'd have liked some coathangers and a small wardrobe or rail on which to hang clothes. But perhaps that's too much to ask of this kind of operation!

This hotel is a hidden gem overlooking a beautiful park, with stunning views of the city. The location couldn't be better, with easy access to the CBD and on the Greenline bus route. The rooms are spacious and bright, thanks to the large windows, and the facilities are very clean, including the well-equipped kitchen. The staff is friendly and the service is top-notch. I loved the cozy sofas and the delicious breakfast with fresh deli goods from the nearby supermarket.
All was absolutely fine, nothing to complain about.

This hotel is situated overlooking a lovely park, providing an amazing view of the city. The location on the edge of CBD makes it convenient for exploring. The rooms are comfortable with soft sofas, perfect for relaxing and reading. The hotel offers the basic amenities, but they are well-maintained and very clean. Additionally, the breakfast includes deli goods from Countdown, adding a nice touch of quality to start the day.
No improvement needed, everything was satisfactory.

Peaceful haven in the city
Verandahs Parkside Lodge was a peaceful haven in the heart of the city. The old villa was well looked after and clean, with a lovely garden that provided a serene retreat. The spacious and well-equipped kitchen was a bonus, making it easy to prepare meals. The staff at the lodge were super friendly and helpful, adding to the overall positive experience. The lodge's location was also convenient, with easy access to Ponsonby and the city center. Although there were a few minor issues with the bathrooms, they were overshadowed by the overall pleasant stay at Verandahs Parkside Lodge. I highly recommend this lodge for a peaceful and enjoyable stay in Auckland.

Clean and tidy. Great location near Ponsonby road. Pretty quiet, though some traffic noise. Parking available outside hostel.
Odd layout: kitchen is in a separate building. Spartan aspect to the rooms, which lacked hooks on the door or a chair to put clothes on. Thin walls. No wifi.
Tourists from South Africa often stay at these properties. Ideas for your future trips.
